HIPAA and Marketing IV- Red Tape Reassurance

At this juncture it seems as though gathering this feedback isn’t worth it. Quite the contrary! The key is to align yourself and your practice with HIPAA and FCC regulations. Attain properly documented permission not only for dispersal of information but consent to use their commentary as well. Transparency is a word that should not only find its way into the practice but should find itself in practice. Patients should be well informed and have a copy of the agreement that gives authorization fo

HIPAA and Marketing Part III: Government Regulations and Marketing

Although HIPAA compliance is a primary concern another very important one is the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 or TCPA. This particular law reaches far and wide permeating every industry. Per the US Government the TCPA limits the use of automatic dialing systems, artificial or prerecorded voice messages, SMS text messages, and fax machines. It also specifies several technical requirements for fax machines, autodialers, and voice messaging systems—principally with provisions requiring

Bye, bye, Bayesian Average- Google's New Approach to Business Ratings

Google has decided to turn in their Bayesian Average scoring method in exchange for the familiar arithmetic one we all learned in school. Say what? Let's start with a few definitions: Bayesian Average- a statistical method that assigns probabilities or distributions to events based on experience or best guesses before experimentation and data collection. Okay...so why should I care? Have you seen a business with 3 reviews all 5s but the aggregate score didn't reflect that? A few coming to mind

2017- Online Reviews and Reciprocity

Be engaged, be available, get results. In a world of touch screens and text messages, the most valuable commodity is time and everyone wants some. 2017 is the year of the online review and no one, especially medical practices, are being spared. As the millennium progresses it is clear to see that communication and accessibility to first-hand opinions are the driving factors in every decision. Point, click, and boom- a patient might have just skipped over your practice based on the popular opinio

Poland's Syndrome- Informative Response

We appreciate the kind words about our staff as well as the candid feedback. We endeavor to provide a superior patient experience and are disappointed anytime that we fall short of this goal. We understand how frustrating and stressful a misdiagnosis can be and strive to provide patients with all necessary information to understand their proper prognosis and their options. Poland's syndrome is a rare birth defect characterized by the underdevelopment or absence of the chest muscle on one side of the body, accompanied with webbing of the fingers of the hand on the same side. The absence of these indicators strongly suggests that a patient does NOT have Poland's syndrome. The general surgeon likely confused Poland's with a condition known as tuberous breasts. This particular condition exhibits development during puberty resulting in the breast not being fully formed. There are a variety of techniques that are used in addressing this issue including tissue expansion, breast augmentation, breast lifting and breast parenchymal re-shaping. Tuberous breast correction is more complicated than just a regular breast augmentation and it frequently requires a combination of techniques. There are some rare cases where the physician must perform tissue expansion of the breast skin envelope prior to the augmentation. Tubular breast procedures must be undertaken by a board certified plastic surgeon, like Dr. Timmons, who has specialized in the areas of aesthetic surgery due to the complexity. It should be noted that insurance companies do not generally cover augments and lifts for the treatment of tuberous breasts, unless particularly severe. In light of that, we want to help patients achieve their desired results in any way that we can. As such we encourage patients to reach out to our office with questions or concerns at their convenience. All the best!

Make That Denial Work for You

A job interview is basically a high stakes first date. Either you won't "click" or it will be the start of a beautiful relationship. There you are dressed to the nines and everything is going great. A few days of obsessing later you receive the dreaded message. OVERLY QUALIFIED. If you’re like me you feel the following simultaneously: "Yes! I have worked really hard to get where I am and thank you for seeing my accomplishments the way I do” and "I'm overly qualified for a position I see value in

HIPAA and Marketing

In the age of information, everything is just a swipe or google search away, including your online reputation. Review sites and the ever changing content they house have undoubtedly found their way into our collective subconscious. We are all guilty of partaking at some point. Reaching for the tablet, phone, or laptop with the intentions of gaining some insight into an establishment before we invest in going. Most often we rely on the comments left by others to give us this intel. For a consumer

HIPAA and Marketing Part II- Filtering Content

Beyond being able to effectively respond to reviews, identifying different types can enhance your management capabilities. Is it bad or just candid? It doesn’t matter. If given the option it is not recommended to filter reviews as it can be more damaging than beneficial. It is recommended however to be familiar with the three different types of negatives and their benefits. 1) The bad- is generally characterized by an anonymous author using an offensive, malicious tone. It is clear to see that
